“Truly the cleanest place we have ever stayed and we travel a lot! Great for families and well laid out kitchen. Very spacious. UnderTheDoormat was super responsive and very accommodating.”
Elizabeth J., March 2017
“Great service, very responsive and helpful. Thanks for a great stay!”
Raed, March 2017
‘This is the PERFECT London flat: spacious, great location, amazing value. The apartment was spotless when we arrived, kitchen was well-equipped, the terrace was perfect when the sun was shining (which was surprisingly often during our trip). There is a small elevator that comes in handy when bring you luggage up and down. Hands down the most comfortable couch I’ve ever sat on — excellent for relaxing after a long day of exploring and shopping. The Under the Doormat team is incredible. All the details are communicating before you arrive, checkin was seamless, and they are great about getting back to you if you have any questions. Can’t wait to stay again next time I’m in London!’
Caroline D., January 2017
“This is a true home, and you’ll surely get that live like a local feeling. Steps away from anything you would need. The Tube station is truly around the corner and you have multiple groceries to choose from. The neighborhood and many of the Brixton Market restaurants stay open late, so this is the spot for the night owl. The 3rd floor bedroom faces a bustling street (so bring earplugs for the weekends) while the 2nd floor bedroom facing the courtyard is super quiet. The place was just as pictured – super clean but also really warm and cozy from all the personal design attention and artwork. The staff at Under the Doormat made the whole process simple, even working with us to arrange an early check-in. We’ll be back to both Under the Doormat and this beautiful property.”
Kathleen K., November 2016
Amazing amazing amazing location and place. Secluded enough from the hustle and bustle of brixton but also in the middle of it all. Felt so at home with my family here. Would highly recommend. Brixton village just round the corner and all the bars and restaurants your heart desires. The underthedoormat team were great and punctual.
Shuchita S., October 2016
“Easy access to Holborn or Russell Sq stations and Piccadilly Line to Heathrow. Spacious, clean, lightfilled and well maintained flat. If you want to feel like you’re living in London (while on holiday?) there are grocery stores, restaurants, parks, and transportation all within short walking distance. My husband even had his hair cut on Lambs Court Conduit. The bedrooms are good sized and the guest bath is very large. But the views from the floor to ceiling windows can’t be beat, especially with a glass of wine at sunset. Enjoy!”
Lynda S., October 2016
“The team at Under the Doormat were awesome, they met us on arrival took time to introduce us tothe apartment and acquaint us with the local area. They were very receptive with their communication during our stay and nothing was too much trouble, thanks team very professional and made us feel very welcome. Awesome apartment very clean and a super location. With this great attitude you will be very successful. Thanks again. Best Lloyd ”
Lloyd, June 2016
The house is exactly like in the pictures. The biggest advantage is the location. really close to the tube and the buses. All the house is perfect. really nice kitchen the shower is just perfect. Only small thing is the living room. The couches were not very clean and not comfortable. Thee house has an amazing atmosphere in general. Thanks for hosting.
Rym Benchekroun, March 2016
Lovely apartment and great service from UnderTheDoormat. We would do it again! Thank you.
Martin Bazley, July 2015
Very nice two bedroom flat. Plenty of room for myself and two children. Nice front room with lots of light, great kitchen and bathroom. Local Sainsbury 50 feet away and open until 11:00 PM – so convenient for food or a snack. Quiet street with plenty of places to eat in short walking distance. Definitely a bargain for the price.
Carol Johnston LaRue, July 2015
The apartment was located in a great part of London. It was spacious and looked just like the pictures on Airbnb. The host was on time to let us in. It was well stocked with needed supplies. The only issue we had was that the elevator/lift was very loud in the master bedroom.
Harriet Franklin, March 2016
This place was incredible! Location, location, location! You can’t beat the location, if you are hesitant to book this like I was, don’t be. This is just a block away from Covent Gardens and walking distance to most major sites. Also, the neighbourhood is pristine and a great authentic English Pub on the corner. The space itself was large for European standards and extremely clean. Using “Under the Doormat” was great as they were punctual with check-in and check-out times, catered to our needs in a professional and efficient manner and had multiple booklets to explore the city available to us. This place was amazing and I’d highly recommend this to anyone. Can’t wait to come again.
Evy Stefy, July 2015
Ramona Tudorancea, March 2016
We are so glad we stayed in Shoreditch. Everything is around the corner and the tube was so convenient. The only thing that needs improvement are the directions to Ed’s place. If you’re walking from the station, you’ll need directions with landmarks as the street is not marked. It took us almost a couple of hours going in circles because once you find the street, it’s actually in a sort of compound where there are offices. But Sandra, who met us, was super nice and apologetic. It’s just part of travel- we were so frustrated but we had a great time in London!
Ailynn Orteza, July 2015
Ospite professionale. Annuncio preciso e sincero. In ottima zona fuori dal caotico centro ma raggiungibile in qualche minuto. Accoglienza calda e puntuale con gradite attenzioni. Da ripetere.
Marco Orioli, March 2016
Very nice venue, good welcoming, I recommend it!
Andrea Levy, June 2015
The stay in this flat was absolutely satisfying. Lovely bright space. The team of UnderTheDoormat were very professional and answered any questions I had quickly. I recommend!
Stephanie Vogt, June 2015
After a long flight, we were greeted warmly by Merilee and shown around the flat as well as the beautiful area (path along the Thames, gym, pool, etc…). We had ordered groceries to be delivered and they had all been put away for us prior to our arrival. The flat was very comfortable and a wonderful launching place to explore London and the surrounding countryside. The Tube station was very handy; just across the bridge. After a busy day of adventures, it was lovely to head back to this quiet oasis.
Miriam Lyons, June 2015
I had a wonderful stay using UnderTheDoormat service. Everything was flawless and I would definitely stay with them again. They promptly arrived for the check in and check out. I wasn’t totally sure how to use the heating, although everything was described in the House Guide, I just didn’t get a chance to read it with all the touring that I was doing. So when I wrote a message online, they personally came by to help me that same evening, and it was a Sunday evening! The apartment was absolutely spotless and everything was in perfect working order. I just can’t say enough about the wonderful experience.
Susan Landgraf, April 2016
Fashionable Fulham was fabulous- great location for a London visitor. FF is close to all transportation, pubs, restaurants & cafes. The home was very comfortable with large clean rooms & lots of space. The host UnderTheDoormat met all our needs & are an added bonus to the rental. We would definitely stay at FF again.
Michael Sarpi, June 2015
What a lovely way to experience Richmond! We loved the flat for its location, huge open plan kitchen, dining and living area and conservatory-style glass ceiling – abundant light during daytime and stargazing at night. The Under The Doormat crew were wonderful to deal with – responsive and accommodating. Definitely a winner.
Alex Ypsilanti, April 2016
From the beginning our host made us feel right at home with a welcome packet and two sets of keys and gave us a breakdown of the area. They were very accessible and were there to help us any moment we needed them. The flat was very well equip with everything we needed and was very spacious exactly as described. The wifi connection was very strong, the beds were comfy as was the sofa. The flat was conveniently located right next to the underground station, bus stops, and bike rentals nearby. There were plenty of restaurants everywhere so we made little use of the kitchen. All in all this was one of the best airbnb experiences I have had. We would definitely stay again when we come back to London.
Zamir Kazi, June 2015
Great place and UnderTheDoormat were very accommodating. Would definitely do this again! Convenient location, close to the station and the flat is very charming. It was a perfect fit! Suggestion to allow for some ventilation, especially in the bathrooms and some curtains in the dining room would be great. Otherwise nothing much to improve! Difficult to find and the entrance is quite dark. Brixton is a great location though!
Khairunissa Dhala, April 2016
This is a really cosy, cute, quirky flat in an interesting neighbourhood. The best thing about the flat is the gorgeous view, fresh air and singing birds from the bedroom. The bedroom was the best part of the flat. You also have access to the ground floor patio. There is a big team of people to greet you and to assist you during your stay. They are all very helpful. The flat is above several antique shops and just a short walk to the bus stops. Riding the bus is so much better than being in the tube because you get to see London and this cute neighbourhood. There are lots of grocery stores nearby and restaurants are not too far away and in reasonable walking distance. The flat has everything you need and it was just perfect for me travelling alone. There are lots of windows, light and cross-ventilation. There is a great little café around the corner which is fantastic – warm ambience and good food. I enjoyed my stay at Annette’s house.
Zara Angelina Merali, May 2015
Lovely location and clean and beautiful apartment.
Jason Reich, April 2016
Under The Doormat offered a perfect and accurate description of the apartment. They met us at the location at the time they said they would, and gave us a thorough tour before she left. They offer many suggestions of pubs, shopping, restaurants, tours, etc which made it an enjoyable stay in the Westminster area. Be advised many eating and drinking establishments close earlier than you may be accustomed to in this particular area. Do some research ahead of time if you like to stay out later than 11pm. All in all a very solid stay for 3 guys from California and Under the Doormat made it even better than expected.
Neal Mudgett, April 2016
Our hosts (Under The Doormat team who manages the homeowners apt) made my family (my parents, my husband and I) feel very welcome. They were helpful with any questions we had before our trip and were exceptionally helpful when it came to our arrival and departure. Under The Doormat team did an excellent job providing directions on how to find the apartment; which would have otherwise been challenging- the door to the space is not an obvious or well marked area. Nuria was there to greet my parents when they arrived. She walked them through the apt showing where things were & how things worked. She provided an excellent description of the area, great recommendations on where to eat and information about the fabulous Brixton markets & shops. The listing for “Trendy Brixton Garden Oasis” was accurately described. Brixton is an urban, up-in-coming, Caribbean influenced district, just outside London proper. The pictures on the site accurately reflect the calm, comfortable home of well-traveled homeowners. Our family has decided based on living in Jon and Simon’s space for a number of days, that these two individuals would be very interesting people. I could easily imagine our families sipping tea from their own personally grown Indonesian tea farm. Later transitioning to wine, we would sit outside in their garden, courtyard patio; having to then ask the question, how did one manage a chicken coup with chickens here? I imagine we would love hearing about their various stories and adventures, as reflected throughout their home in treasures hung on their walls and hints of travels past, or maybe of future plans, as evidenced by the many travel books neatly stacked along the shelf. Before scheduling our first airbnb (ever), I met a lovely UK couple on one of my many Chicago business trips. They recommended staying outside of London proper due to higher London costs, and said frankly the people are friendlier, very welcoming, and promised our new favorite pub would be “just a stones throw”. They were highly encouraging regarding my ideas of booking with airbnb. They were right on in all accounts, because we had a wonderful time! Closing comments for future travelers: Brixton is an up-in-coming trendy, urban city. There are wonderful Caribbean influences everywhere! However, for those not into urban scenes (homeless, active drug use, late night music) this may not be the place for you. Our first night, we arrived around midnight. It is a short walk, maybe two blocks from the tube to the apt. On our way to the apt, a woman walked up to my husband asking for money, was very persistent and proceeded to pull on his arm. Having lived in downtown Detroit, I was a little taken aback by this woman’s actions- however we only experienced this on one occasion. Other evenings that we were out and about we found the streets to be active with people and police patrolling. As those that have traveled before are familiar, just use common sense.

I stayed at Anette’s property for 4 weeks in May 2015. The flat is exactly as shown on the pictures. Beautiful hardwood floor, bright and airy, charming, very nicely finished and decorated. The bed and linen are super nice and comfortable, you will sleep very well. The bathroom is nicely done and the shower is also nice and strong. Everything is in good working order and you get all the basic things you need for a comfortable stay. The girls from UndertheDoormat and the landlady went way above and beyond to make sure I had a nice stay. They were extremely flexible around check-in and check-out times, cleaning, adjustments, special requests, etc. , and very responsive. I highly recommend Anette’s place to anyone wishing to visit.
Carolina Martins, May 2015
If you are hesitating about this place don’t! Its amazing! I’ve had friends stay here twice now and they loved every minute of it. The flat is within a gated area so you feel super safe and the property supervisors go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The decoration in the flat makes you feel at home and makes this place different from any hotel I’ve stayed at. The underground station is 2 mins walk away shops too. I recommend this place highly! A+
Ekaterina Solomeina, May 2015
My stay in this flat was wonderful and the UnderTheDoormat team were excellent. They met me when I arrived, explained about the local area to me, and were really helpful. I didn’t need them for anything during my stay but they said they were very happy to help in case I did. Would happily stay in this flat and with UnderTheDoormat again.
Keith Bridges, May 2016
This apartment was great! UnderTheDoormat was very easy and efficient to work with, they accommodated my early check in/check out times and had someone there to personally greet me at check in and when I left. The only thing that was a little inconvenient is having to pay extra for early check out, but ce la vie. The location of this apartment is AWESOME. It is literally steps away from one of the major transport hubs in London, so it’s super easy to hop on the bus, tube, or overground train. Also, the river views are great. You can walk along the river Thames to central London in less than 45 minutes. There are also a number of restaurants, shops etc in the apartment complex which make it easy to grab something quick if you need. Would definitely recommend this apt and stay here again!
Chelsea Ives, May 2016
Fantastic experience from start to finish – a great team and very helpful and attentive.
Justin North, May 2015
Merilee and her team did a great job making this a welcoming place to stay during my time in London. The flat was clean and as just as described, with lots of lovely light and the garden was very charming. I had everything I needed for my stay and the internet connection was quite good. I had no problems at all during my stay here. Being new to the area, the recommendations on places to go, nearest supermarkets, and even nearby gyms that Merilee provided were extremely helpful and made my stay very easy. I highly recommend booking with Under the Doormat for your next trip to London.
Kathryn Johnson, May 2015
Paola’s pad is a lovely and comfortable place. Well located very close to pubs, coffee shops, restaurants, and to a very nice jazz house. Therere are 2 underground stations around. And plenty of buses depart from Shoreditch to other regions, like Soho, Picadilly Circus and so on. I recommend especially to people who enjoy night life.
Gabriela Athias, May 2015
Nice flat and nice district! Everything was perfect during our stay, we would come back for sure.
Francisco Javier Alfonso Ruiz, May 2015
Extremely helpful host, flat has a great location and very clean. I would stay there again.
Ozan Kara, May 2015
The host was very helpful. The flat was lovely and the location was really perfect for walks along the Thames.
Kate Bunbury, April 2015
Starting by the host and mainly Olesya who strived to replace my inflatable mattress in seconds 🙂 thank you! Were very helpful welcoming considerate and PROS The flat is well located and 3 min walk to the tube station and 1 min to the bus. Next to it nice coffee shops and restaurants and super market. The flat is clean fresh and well equipped. Matches 100% the pics If you are for a visit or business the area is almost in the middle of london you can reach any place in no time. Sleeping quality is good while bearing in mind that i slept in the living room next to the street. Flat is good and you can have a good sleep at night Under the doormat were constantly checking on us and making sure that everything is smooth
Wait for me next year 🙂
Sam Pierre Nassar, April 2015
Great communication with the hosts who did everything possible to make our stay as pleasant as possible. Very nice home with plenty of room! Nice neighborhood location along the River Thames. A little distant to central London with all the tourist attraction, however you can take a quick bus or tube ride to Big Bus Tour and hop on which will take you throughout the city where you can hop on and off. Very easy and convenient.
Brett Karleen, April 2015
We had a great stay in this lovely and very light apartment. Nice neighborhood and the spa and pool are great! It only takes a few minutes to walk to the Hammersmith tube station and Barnes Village is close by and within easy reach by bus and has a great cinema and nice restaurants and bars. Under the doormat takes good care with a lot of information before and they go out of their way to make you as comfortable as they can.
Noëlle Haitsma, May 2015
Apartment was lovely and very comfortable – we were more than happy to stay there and enjoyed the few days we were there. All is as advertised. The team from Under the Doormat were very professional and great – extremely responsive and very helpful and went out of they way to accommodate us and help at very short notice.
James Morris, April 2015
Under the Doormat were excellent hosts. They were responsive and accommodating, with just the right combination of professionalism thrown in. When I arrived early to London and was going to get to the apartment 30 minutes before I had anticipated, Merilee hopped on her bike to make sure she didn’t keep me waiting. The house was immaculately cleaned, a welcome box of teas and biscuits wafting (so British!) and there were even chocolates on the pillows. The apartment is very nice, just like it looks in the pictures The rooms are spacious and well fitted, and there is pretty much everything one would want – except for perhaps a microwave in the kitchen, but English friends told me to stop being so American – most apartments in London don’t have them. The neighbourhood is very nice, lots of grocery stores, including a Waitrose, nearby. The tube stations (Hammersmith and Barons Court) are a 20-minute walk, slightly longer if you take the scenic Thames path. There is a bus that goes fro around the corner, which was handy the day it was pouring down rain in the morning! One complaint was that the bed in the master bedroom as not put together properly making the mattress sag when you lay down because the supportive slats were missing, which led to a few uncomfortable nights. As I was initially alone in the apartment, I just switched rooms. When I let Merilee know, they came and put a fairly comfortable airmatress for when I had other people joining me for the weekend. I believe they were going to get that fixed, so hopefully that will not be a problem in the future. All an all, a very comfortable stay, such a nice change from staying in a hotel!
Maliha, April 2015
Had a lovely stay at this beautiful apartment over the Christmas period. The location was perfect as we were spending Christmas with family nearby. The apartment is high spec with access to a garden, fitness area & pool/ spa. Three of us stayed in this two bed/ two bath property with plenty of space. Merilee met with me and gave a tour of the complex, she also clearly has good local knowledge which is helpful if you’re not familiar with the area. Overall we had a really good experience with Merilee, Nuria & Underthedoormat, so I would recommend them & use their services again. The mince pies were a lovely festive touch!
Deirdre, January 2015
Our family of four (two adults, a 20yo and an 18yo) had a great stay here just before Christmas. The apartment is just as it is depicted and is in a perfect area for getting around London, or just hanging around the ‘hood. Our hosts made us feel totally welcome — very accommodating with check-in and check-out times, and even sent us off on Christmas eve with some mince pies. the flat is in great condition. Very cozy. The second bedroom is only accessible thru the bathroom which was slightly inconvenient but just not that big a deal. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat. In fact, I probably will.
Vivian, January 2015
Nuria and Merilee were both fantastic. They went above and beyond to make this rental experience one I won’t soon forget. The piano is now refurbished and tuned, which was a delight to play after a long day of touring London. The internet worked great first-time and was plenty fast enough to work remotely to the US. The owner has quite the selection of spices, including many organic, which was a nice bonus surprise. There were plenty of dishes to cook and eat with. The neighborhood is upper-class and quite friendly. There are great restaurants and grocery stores just a block away, and the “underground” (“subway” for us Americans) is just a short walk away. The hosts left a few recommended places to eat and shop, which was quite helpful. The whole house is tidy and has great energy. There were fresh towels on the (quite comfortable) bed waiting for me when I arrived, as well as plenty of hangers in the closet. There was even a battery charger and foreign power adapter for use. Bravo for thinking outside the box! The washer/dryer unit worked great. However, be warned the combo, high-efficiency units in Europe take FOREVER to wash and then dry your clothes completely. (I had the same experience in Rome.) If you need to wash some clothes before you move on to your next destination, leave yourself at least 3 hours per load. Overall the experience was fantastic and I would rent again in a heartbeat the next time I return to London.
Aaron, January 2015
Excellent and lovingly furnished home in great location. Attentive hosts, we would come again.
Camilla, January 2015
Anette’s place is charming and wonderful. It is exactly like the pictures and has so many lovely touches. It has everything you might need for a weekend getaway or a refreshing change to staying in a hotel for a business trip. We loved the antique shops on the road and all the restaurants that were recommended in the detailed guide provided by UnderTheDoormat. Our favorite was the Fulham Wine rooms where you could sample different wines before selecting a glass- so cool. Fulham was a wonderful location to explore London and the buses outside of the flat took us right to everything from the museums in South Kensington to Hyde Park and Oxford Street. Merilee and Nuria were so helpful and answered all of our questions- a great set of hosts and we will plan on staying in one of their places on our next visit for sure! Thank you!
Sean and Laurie, January 2015
We had a great stay at the Mews. Our host was there to greet us and welcome us into the home. The place was absolutely immaculate and very warm and inviting. Our hosts were incredible, answering every question or need we had. The neighborhood was fantastic! Off the beaten path but very close to excellent restaurants and shops. We could walk everywhere and easily get to our transportation needs. It was a great place to use as a base to see London. We would definitely stay here again and loved the staff of UndertheDoormat.
Jon, January 2015
Had a great time staying the apartment i have nothing but positive things to say about my hosts. The area was great and i really enjoyed their advice on restaurants.
Aaron Mason, December 2014
Great Property in convenient location in Putney. Close to tube stations, riverside and park walks, with some great restaurants around the corner. We had a fantastic stay with our four children. The home was great value, as well as convenient, clean and tidy. The hosts could not do enough for us on our arrival, and were always available if we needed further assistance, like booking a cab back to the station when we departed. Perfect!
Matt Farrar, December 2014
Thank you for being amazing and helping me to organise a wonderful stay for my newly married friends in this beautiful apartment. Your friendliness, flexibility, punctuality and communication made this part of organising the wedding a breeze. The flat was lovely, just as described. Thanks again!
Tatja Macnaughton, September 2014
Stephanie house is a dream. Located in a quiet mews with friendly neighbours. The house itself is beautifully presented, clean and has all you could possibly want for a nice long or short break. We did not get to experience the surrounding area too much but from the looks of things there were some lovely cafes and restaurants. About fifteen minutes into central London via the district line and all round great value to stay in such a luxurious house. The Underthedoormat team were also great. We were greeted upon arrival and they were just a phonecall away to answer any questions — lovely people. I’d highly recommend anyone to stay here. It’s essentially a five star hotel.
Alex Roberts, November 2014
We stayed in the property for 12 nights and three of us enjoyed our stay very much.
The property is conveniently serviced by buses. Bus route no 266 runs to and from the Hammersmith tube station. The journey takes about 5-8 minutes and the bus comes every 8-10 minutes with the stop just few steps on the road.
The property is very homey and is exactly as what it is pictured. The kitchen is amazing, with full range of Le Creuset cookwares. There are plenty of tablewares too. There are sky windows in the library and bathroom.
It is located in a pure residential area. There are Tesco, Sainsbury, Co-op and many other small shops nearby. Ginger Pig, the premium butcher also with presence in Borough Market, is just a minute by walk. A bakery is just next door opposite. You can get everything you need for your daily life, making it really like a home away from home.
Merilee and Nuria are extremely nice and helpful. We came up with a problem which was then sorted out well by them (Merilee / Nuria, thanks a lot for your efforts). We could feel they have managed their properties very well, not competing for price but by offering something PLUS.
We are planning to come back next year and will likely stay in properties managed by UnderTheDoormat.
Tiffany Wu, October 2014
We booked the place for two weeks and thoroughly enjoyed the stay. The host was at the property at the time of checkin and was great to have been given a welcome pack with all information of the property and also about the surroundings. The property is centrally located, well connected to tube and bus and very close to everything. My office was only 10 mins walk hence my option of staying there. The next street is a charm with 10’s of restaurants. We went to a lot of them over the 2 weeks and enjoyed them. Woodlands was the best in terms of personal favourite. Shopping is walking distance away and Oxford street is a stroll away. The property was well kept and linen changes every week. All in all a very cosy and comfortable place and hosts always willing to help for anything that you need. (don’t get that in serviced apartments). Enjoyed our stay. Thanks Carolina and Merilee.
