UnderTheDoormat’s Growth Story

UnderTheDoormat was founded in July 2014 because we believed that guests should be able to get the best of both worlds by staying in a home and enjoying a professional, hotel-quality service. We also saw how many homes were sat empty in London and realised that one of the biggest barriers for homeowners was the effort, hassle and risk involved in letting their home out themselves, especially when they would be abroad.

By offering a much more professional and secure experience for both sides we wanted to tap into the premium home stay market and meet the demand for a higher quality experience.

Our progress so far

When we took our first booking in July 2014 we provided the linens & towels ourselves,  Merilee (our CEO) checked the guests in personally, and we earned £445.

Since then we have taken over 700 bookings, welcomed over 2,000 guests, and generated over £1m in sales.

Through our mix of personal hospitality, asset-light property management, and integrating 3rd party digital platforms, we have developed a proven & scalable business model ready for expansion.
