UnderTheDoormat Group began with founder and CEO, Merilee Karr, in 2014. Since then we’ve been lucky enough to attract a wealth of talent in property and hospitality to build our current team.

Merilee founded UnderTheDoormat after 13 years with Shell, including periods as Global Strategy Manager and Global Retail Maintenance Manager at Shell.
It was her experience during her travels for the company – and the many places she stayed at – that created her desire to make a difference to the homestay sector: to give travellers access to the home comforts they craved with peace of mind that comes from professional service.
Merilee’s passion for professionalising the sector led to her being elected as the Founding Chair of the industry body, the Short Term Accommodation Association.
She is a regular commentator in the media and at events, and leads the industry’s engagement with local and national governments.
Richard joined UnderTheDoormat from Centrica, where he was Director of Reputation. With a history in business consulting, communication, analytics and research, he oversees the London Operation at UnderTheDoormat and the company’s Marketing & Distribution arm.
Richard has also represented UnderTheDoormat on the radio and once even made it to the BBC Breakfast Sofa.
Having originally trained as a Chartered Accountant at PwC, Jonny has 25 years’ experience of working in CFO roles. He joined UnderTheDoormat as CFO in November 2019 and manages our finance and accounting function, forecasting and shareholder reporting.
Michael has served at the executive level of a variety of SaaS technology, marketing, lead generation and digital publishing companies. He has extensive experience working with both global and domestic companies scaling revenues, organisational design, marketing, and capital development. His background spans a variety of business verticals including eCommerce, sales, technology, M&A, and finance, working with companies ranging from early stage to multi-billion in annual revenue.
Hannah joined UnderTheDoormat in 2018 and brings with her 15 years’ experience in the banking and insurance sector where she held various HR and project management positions, most latterly with the Royal Bank of Scotland. Hannah is responsible for managing the day-to-day corporate operations of UnderTheDoormat to ensure optimum business efficiency.
James has experience running restaurants in London & Auckland. After finishing his degree, he moved to London seeking out new challenges. He has over 10 Years’ experience in hospitality & management and enjoys listening to and playing all kinds of music.
