The Best Walks to do in London

This year it's been tough to find things to do in and around London and now that Summer has passed and you cant relax in the park or your garden for some fresh air, we have found some alternatives for you to get stretch your legs! Going on a nice long walk to clear your mind and get away from technology is the perfect thing to escape the 4 walls of your home.

South Bank
A stroll down South Bank is perfect for anyone who is working from home! Choose to wander down the river and admire the sights during your lunch break to refuel and escape your laptop for a bit. With lots of room to walk, you wont find yourself overcrowded with people and can spend more time appreciating the scenery! On the topic of scenery, you can see the beautiful National Theatre and Royal Festival Hall, of course the most prominent of views will be that of Big Ben and Westminster and also Somerset House will be visible from across the river. Make sure to wrap up warm as it can be quite chilly by the Thames!

Jubilee Greenway
If you're up for making a day of it, then a walk around the Jubilee Greenway is a 60km route (not compulsory) that is sure to get your step count up! A bit of history to start: the Greenway was completed in 2012 and marks the Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the London Olympic Games. This means you are guaranteed some impressive sights such as, Kensington Palace, Little Venice, Victoria Park, Olympic Park, O2 Arena, Shakespeare's Globe, Buckingham Palace and the list goes on! Of course this is dependent on where you start and how long you choose to walk for, so we recommend doing a bit of research before you leave to make sure you capture all the sights you want to. A nice idea is to spilt it over a few weeks and then you'll be able to see it all.

Richmond Park
Many of you will have already take the trip to Richmond for a walk and if you haven't well it needs to be on your 'To Do' list! Originally created as a deer park by Charles I in the 17th Century, it has a lot to keep you mesmerised. You could spend hours wandering around but we recommend a special 40-acre garden within the vast woodland called Isabella Plantation. It's full of beautiful foliage to admire: from the National Collection of Wilson 50 Kurume Azaelas, to the famous rhododendrons and camelias, to the many eye-catching trees and shrubs that flourish throughout the year. Thanks to the huge variety of flora and fauna that reside in the park, you’ll enjoy a diverse riot of autumn colours, as exotic and native species fill your eyes wherever you happen to wander.

Greenwich Park
Greenwich is really well connected by conventional means of transport, but one of the best ways to explore the area is by walking. It's time to unplug from the daily routine because the landscape has a mix that'll make you feel very well and free. Why not start walking from the Cutty Sark towards the park? The streets there are really characteristic with their own style. In a certain way it seems like walking through an actual maritime area and it's so charming. Take a stroll up the hill to the observatory, where you can see the most amazing extended view of London. Once you've admired the view walk down the slope going back to the Cutty Sark’s small wharf where you can head East along the river, to find a couple of traditional British pubs located on the riverbank, that's if you fancy a spot of lunch.

Holland Park
Find another world in Holland Park by visiting the charming Kyoto Gardens, which were donated by the Chamber of Commerce of Kyoto in 1991. Within the famous surrounds of Holland Park – a green space encompassing 55 acres and the remains of a Jacobean mansion, Holland House, which provides the backdrop to the park’s acclaimed outdoor productions – is an ode to Japanese design. Visitors to the Kyoto Gardens will enjoy spectacular views at any time of year, as well as a stunning waterfall, bridge, and koi carp pond. It’s particularly relaxing and quiet in the autumn, though: take a moment to marvel at the gorgeous autumnal shades of yellow, orange and crimson and bask in the sound of the gently cascading waters, and you’ll find it hard to believe you’re only a few miles from the centre of town.
